Temple Literacy Council and the many adult learners we serve each year depend on generous participation and support from the community in order to carry out our goals. Temple Literacy Council’s primary goal is to recruit and encourage adult learners. Your donation of time, in-kind gifts, or financial gifts will have a significant impact in the lives of those wanting to learn to read, to better themselves, and their families.
Since its founding over 25 years ago, the Temple Literacy Council has received generous support from many organizations and businesses. Altrusa International Inc. of Temple was one of the first to join the local literacy effort and has provided monetary support as well as donations of food for training sessions and volunteers in support for literacy. Both of Temple’s Rotary clubs, Temple Rotary Club and Rotary Club of Temple South, have been a long time supporter of the Literacy Council and has made the Council one of the beneficiaries of their fundraising efforts for many years. Other local support has come from First Christian Church of Temple, Ye Olde English Bakery, Temple Public Library and many other community groups and individuals.
Temple Literacy Council enjoys a productive relationship with Temple College and Temple ISD, sharing resources in providing levels of assistance to the adult learner and the family. Local businesses and corporations have donated generously with both in-kind contributions and monetary support. National corporations such as Wilsonart International, Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart and Dollar General Foundation have also generously supported literacy efforts.
Promote literacy by supporting the Temple Literacy Council.
